Welcome to Holy Cross College of Nursing
“The need of the time is the will of God” ( Theodosius Florentini ) is the moto of Father Theodosius Florentini (1808 – 1865), who was determined to fight the anti-religious rationalism and radical liberalism by education of youth in faith and morals with special emphasis on the education of women. He upheld the christian principles in educational system. The congregation of the ” Teaching Sisters ” of the Holy Cross was found in the year 1884 in order to achive women’s education. Mother Bernarda Heimgartner (1822-1863) was the co-foundress.
Our History
Holy Cross College of Nursing
The first group of Holy Cross missionary sisters arrived at Quilon, Kerala State, S. India on Fourth November 1906. They served as honoraries in the government Hospitals of Kerala and Tamilnadu. Today the continues to give honorary serves for Government Hospitals of Kerala.
Holy Cross College of Nursing started in the year 03.03.2003 with the aim of Higher education and holistic formation of Nurses. Holy Cross College of Nursing provides Post Basic B.Sc Nursing in the year 2003, B.Sc. Nursing in the year 2004 and M.Sc. Nursing with five specialities in the year 2011 with 20 seats. (Medical Surgical Nursing : 5 seats, Mental Health Nursing : 2 seats, Community Health Nursing : 5 seats, Child Health Nursing : 4 seats and Maternity Health Nursing : 4 seats)

Holy Cross Hospital, Kottiyam, Kollam is a premier centre in the field of medical service in the state of Kerala. The Hospital run by the society of Sisters of the Holy Cross, completes 69 years of its glorious existence in the field of health care. It has earned a niche for itself as a paragon of health care for its noble and selfless service. In the year 1952, Holy Cross Hospital was started as a small Hospital with 20 beds.
Holy Cross Hospital is a Registered Charitable institution owned and managed by Society Holy Cross Hospital under the governing body, presided by Sr. Telma Manickanamparabil. It is a premier centre in the field of Health Care and is the trunk for the educational programs in the campus.
Holy Cross Hospital provides training in Nursing and Paramedical disciplines and enables the graduates to render competent health care to the sick and suffering. It is recognized for the national board of examination for training Dip-NB and is ranked as the second best in the state for maintenance and NABH accreditation. Dr. Sr. Fides Thottan and her team effectively manage the administrative function of the Hospital. At present Rev. Sr. Vinny Vettukallel is the administrator of Holy Cross Hospital, Kottiyam P.O., Kollam.
